Yasmin is an oral contraceptive, which prevents ovulation and causes certain changes in patient's uterine and cervical lining. This prevents sperm from reaching the uterus and a fecundated egg from attachment to the womb.
Yasmin is primarily used for contraception and prevention of pregnancy. However, it also can treat moderate acne in females at least 14 years of age that have started having menstruations, and who also are willing to take birth control medicine to prevent gravidity.
As well, Yasmin is used for the medication of premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) symptoms, including headache, anxiety, irritability, energy lack, alterations of appetite or sleep, muscle or joint pain, depression, weight gain, breast tenderness, and concentration troubles.
